Reserving Library Materials
Library/Faculty reserves are located behind the Library Circulation
desk on the first floor of the Library. Reserve items are not available
for browsing by patrons. You must request to check out Reserve items
from Circulation personnel. Also, you must have your UAMS Campus ID to
be able to check these items out.
The UAMS Library will put the following types of materials on Course
Reserve, with the following restrictions:
- Nothing is put on Reserve for longer than one semester (or school
year, if the semester plan is not followed).
- At the end of the above period of time, the item is removed from
the Reserve shelves. It is returned to the Library stacks if owned
by the Library, or returned to the owner if it is a personal copy.
- The Library must have any list of items to be placed on Reserve one
week before they are to be needed by the class. The Library
cannot guarantee that the item(s) will be available for use, if the
instructor does not give us the courtesy of adhering to this policy.
Other patrons can, and do check the items out if the Library does
not know that they will be needed for Reserve.
- All Reserve items, questions and comments are to be directed to either
the Head of Circulation or to the Circulation Night Manager.
- The UAMS Library Circulation department will be glad to supply blank
reserve request forms to any instructor that asks. If the instructor
will complete the form, we will be glad to pull the hardcopy items
that the Library has,and place them on Reserve. Some exceptions to
this policy are copies of items that never go on Reserve,
such as CORE and Reference items,
Library copies of original journals, photocopies or photocopies of
articles in a collected form such as notebooks, binders, etc.
- Any items on Reserve may be used in the Library for two hours while
the Library is open. If the instructor allows students to remove Reserve
items from the Library overnight, these items must wait to be checked
out until two hours before the Library closes. These items must be
returned no later than two hours after the Library opens the next day.
This policy will be strictly enforced.
