After-Hours Access
The Faculty and Staff of the Library recognize the potential need for
certain Campus personnel to have access to the Library's collections
24 hours a day. To facilitate that need we have instituted the following
policy.
General Policy
The Library provides 24 hour access to library materials to UAMS faculty,
housestaff and residents to ensure high quality patient care. This service
is not available to undergraduate students.
Persons Eligible for After-hours Access to the Library
UAMS faculty, housestaff, and residents may gain access to the UAMS
Library after-hours. This privilege is also extended to persons from
the Poison Control Center and the UAMS Emergency Room. With proper identification
(UAMS ID badge), UAMS Police will open the Library and log the name and
time the individual enters and departs from the Library. UAMS Police
will either wait if the individual can retrieve the item(s) quickly,
or return later when called (686-7777). A phone is provided at the Circulation
Desk. UAMS Police can usually get to the Library in about 5 minutes.
Checking Materials Out After-hours
The Library photocopying room is available for use or patrons can check
materials out by filling out a manual card for each item and leaving
the yellow check-out card(s) on top of the Circulation Desk. The instructions
for check-out are left on top of the Circulation Desk each night.
Remote Access to Databases
Many databases can be accessed remotely through the Library's homepage
anywhere on campus, or from the Computer Lab on the 8th floor of Education
Building 2. The lab is open 24 hours a day.
