March/April 2007: Issue 134 UAMS Library to Develop ARHealthLINK – Arkansas Go Local Site
The National Library of Medicine recently accepted a proposal from the UAMS Library to develop a MedlinePlus Go Local project for Arkansas. Go Local, which is available through the MedlinePlus web site, is a service for finding local resources for health-related issues based upon geographic area. Go Local links MedlinePlus users to health services in their local communities, and links Go Local users to MedlinePlus health topics. The only information currently available in MedlinePlus Go Local for Arkansas is the “Find a Hospital” feature. Developing a Go Local project for Arkansas will make it easier for Arkansans to find additional resources such as support groups, nursing homes, health screening providers, and physicians. A project team of UAMS Library staff will develop a Go Local site for Arkansas with assistance from other libraries and organizations in the state (see list of supporters below). The name of the new site will be ARHealthLINK – Arkansas Go Local, and all relevant content currently available in ARHealthLINK will be transferred to the new ARHealthLINK – Arkansas Go Local web site. The goal is to make ARHealthLINK – Arkansas Go Local available by January 2008. How can you help?
Special thanks to the following organizations for supporting the ARHealthLINK – Arkansas Go Local project –
