UAMS Library on Your PDA

Websites can be viewed on your PDA using the free AvantGo application for the Palm and Pocket PC. AvantGo will store websites or channels onto your PDA, and each time you sync your handheld the channels are updated with new information. You can also keep up with journal literature by loading the tables of contents and article abstracts on your handheld through AvantGo. Biomed Central is currently using this application to deliver news articles and research abstracts from the journal, The Scientist.

A UAMS Library channel has been developed through AvantGo where you will find contact information and useful websites. If you already have the free AvantGo account, select UAMS Library and “save channel,” then sync your PDA.

To sign-up for a free AvantGo account:

1. Select AvantGo and “register,” then “get an account.” Fill out the form and choose a password and select your handheld platform.
2. Install the client software on your computer, then sync your handheld to install the software onto your PDA. The client software will reside on your computer and handheld.
3. To subscribe, select UAMS Library from this page and select “save channel” and sync your PDA. You should see the UAMS Library when you tap AvantGo on your PDA.

New Online Journals at UAMS Library

The Library has recently added two new groups of online journals to the Library’s journal collection. These packages were purchased through SCAMeL, our regional academic medical library consortium.
