Outreach News:

As Arkansas’ Resource Library for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine [NN/LM], the UAMS Library exhibits at conferences and meetings of health care professionals. There are multiple purposes to these exhibits.

• To promote databases, products, and services available to health professionals from the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
• To announce NLM funding opportunities available to hospitals, clinics and health care agencies.
• To promote training classes taught by the UAMS Library. These classes emphasize the most efficient and proper use of NLM’s resources.
• To promote medical library services through the UAMS Library and the Area Health Education Center Libraries.
• To network with health professionals around the state.

Exhibits are also provided to the public, but these exhibits have slightly different purposes. We exhibit at health fairs in order to promote NLM’s consumer health products such as MEDLINEplus (medlineplus.gov) and ToxTown (toxtown.nlm.nih.gov). We also use these health fairs as a way to promote the state’s consumer health web site, ARHealthLINK (www.arhealthlink.org).
