Erectile Dysfunction in Primary Care:
Broaching the Subject, Treating the Problem (VHS)

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a widespread problem that affects an estimated 30 million American men and their partners. In addition to diminishing quality-of-life, ED can be a marker for more serious conditions in men such as cardiovascular disease. In this program, three specialists in sexual function explore the anatomy and physiology of male sexuality, and describe the causes of and latest treatment options for ED. The subtle but effective ways that physicians may help patients acknowledge sexual dysfunction are demonstrated. Guest commentary from 1998 Nobel Laureate in Medicine, Dr. Louis Ignarro, provides additional perspective on nitric oxide, the neurotransmitter for penile erection.
