RENOVATION/NEW FURNITURE UPDATE

As you may recall, some major improvements in the Library's physical facility were made last year, including recarpeting of the first two floors, reorganizing of space on the first floor, adding many public computer workstations throughout the Library, and adding three group study/viewing rooms on the third floor. Several other improvements to the Library's physical facilities have been made recently or will be completed soon, including the following:

• New tables and ergonomic chairs for the public computer workstations
• Reupholstering/refurbishing of chairs in public areas
• New information desk and chairs
• New furniture in current journals/leisure reading area
• Floor refinished, drapes cleaned, and new table in Robert Watson History of Medicine Room

• Moved faculty development room to third floor (more space and closer to staff support)
• Moved Archives collections from Hendrix Hall to Distribution Center (better environmental controls)
• Touchup painting on the second floor
• Three pieces of artwork for first and second floors
• New ADA compliant security gate on the first floor

We apologize for any inconvenience our users may have experienced while these improvements were being made. We still have a fairly long list of other needed improvements, but since the special funding we have been using for these improvements has been depleted, no other substantial improvements are being anticipated for the near future. However, we will continue to attempt to make improvements not requiring significant funding.
