From The Library Director: MORE ELECTRONIC JOURNALS ADDED As indicated in an article elsewhere in this newsletter, the Library is adding 43 additional full-text journals through the Academic Ideal program. We are purchasing access to these full-text journals as part of an agreement between the South Central Academic Medical Libraries Consortium (SCAMeL) and Academic Ideal. Purchasing products as a group allows us to get better prices than we could individually. The SCAMeL consortium, which is composed of the UAMS Library and thirteen other academic medical libraries in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico, will continue to investigate other online products, which might be purchased more cheaply as a group. The next products the consortium will be considering for purchase are journals available through Highwire Press (such as the American Heart Association and American Psychiatric Association titles). Please send any recommendations for products you would like for us to consider purchasing in electronic format to Mary Hawks or myself.
