UAMS LIBRARY ONLINE CATALOG NOW SHOWS AHEC BOOK & AV HOLDINGS

As of July 24, 2000, the UAMS Library's online catalog (www.libcatalog.uams.edu) shows not only what the UAMS Library owns, but also the book and audiovisual holdings of Arkansas' 6 other AHEC Libraries. (See related article.)

This allows each of the AHEC's to have an online catalog, while giving all medical library users the ability to see, as the result of one search, whether or not a specific library owns an item. This is especially useful to the UAMS students and residents on rotation at one of the AHEC's.

Eventually there will be a way for users to limit to just the AHEC combined collection, which will take less time for users not interested in the UAMS Library holdings.

LIBRARY PEOPLE

Circulation: Stacey Mackey joined the Circulation staff as a part-time employee on August 16, 2000. As of August 21, 2000 Arthur Holman is the Third Floor Supervisor, and Lakesha Johnson the Second Floor Supervisor.

Document Access Services: Dena Plaisted, formerly the Coordinator of Library Services for the Delta Health Education Center Library and the Lewis Library at Phillips Community College in Helena, Arkansas is the new Chair of Document Access Services as of August 1, 2000.

Interlibrary Loan Division: Billie J. Holst joined the Interlibrary Loan Division on August 28, as the new Office Manager.

Learning Resource Center: Joanna Delavan, formerly the LRC's Fifth Floor Manager, is the LRC Floor Manager as of August 1, 2000.
