The UAMS Library welcomes all visitors seeking health information or researching biomedical information to the Library. We are located in the Education II Building off W. Markham. Click here for directions.

Monday -Thurs 7:30 am - 10:00p.m. (reference desk closes at 6:00 p.m.)
Friday 7:30 am - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 am - 6:00 p.m. (no reference staff on duty)
Sunday 2 p.m. - 10:00pm (no reference staff on duty)

Internet Access to Health Information and Biomedical Literature

A limited number of computers on the first floor of the Library are reserved for visitors looking up health information and doing biomedical research. Visitors must comply with the UAMS Library Computer Use for Visitors Policy.

Non-UAMS visitors have access to the Library’s online resources from computers in the Library. However, licensing agreements restrict access to most of the Library’s online resources from off-campus to UAMS faculty, students and staff.

Health Information for the Public

The Library has a number of resources geared specifically toward the general public. Here are some online consumer health resources that we recommend.

A collection of books and other print materials is located near the Core Collection on the first floor of the Library. These are reference materials and cannot be checked out.

Health Reference Center-Academic (available only at UAMS)
MedlinePlus (www.medlineplus.gov - free from any location)

Checking out materials

The UAMS Library only checks books out to health professionals practicing in central Arkansas (Cleburne, Faulkner, Garland, Hot Spring, Perry, Pulaski, Saline, Van Buren, White counties); Arkansas health professionals outside the central Arkansas region are directed to contact their local Regional Center Library.
