NOTE: If you plan on synchronizing two different Palm handhelds to the same PC, make sure to only install a single copy of Palm Desktop to one location on your hard drive. Do not install multiple copies to different locations. Multiple Palm handhelds can synchronize to this single version on Palm Desktop. The different handhelds use different user names to distinguish themselves. To view the different users in Palm Desktop: On the PC: Open Palm Desktop and locate the drop down menu in the upper right corner of the screen titled "User." Click the down arrow and select "edit users" from the list. You can now view, add, edit and remove users from Palm Desktop. On the Mac: Launch the Palm Desktop and select HotSync from the menu bar. Locate the "user" field in the top right corner of the Palm Desktop tool bar. Click the down arrow next to the current user name and select "Edit Users." You can now view, add, edit and remove users from Palm Desktop.
Keep the following points in mind when performing a local HotSync operation:
To perform a local HotSync operation, connect your handheld to the cradle/cable and select the connection method if it is not already selected. Press the HotSync button on the cradle/cable. If your cable does not have a HotSync button, turn on your handheld, open the HotSync application, and tap the HotSync icon. If this is the first HotSync operation and you assigned a password to your handheld, HotSync Manager prompts you to enter the password on your computer. Enter the password and click OK. Wait for a message on your handheld indicating that the operation is complete, and then remove your handheld from the cradle/cable.
