Pat Walker Tower

Pat Walker Tower of the Jones Eye Institute

A five-story, 56,000-square-foot addition to the Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute was completed in early 2006.

The new addition was named for Pat Walker, the Springdale philanthropist and longtime UAMS supporter whose $15 million gift made the addition possible.

Walker has carried on the tradition of philanthropy she started with her husband, the late Willard J. Walker. The couple’s previous support helped to fund the Pat & Willard Walker Eye Research Center at Jones Eye Institute.

The Walker Tower includes:

  • Two additional outpatient surgery suites, bringing the total to four
  • 20 additional exam rooms and five more special procedure rooms
  • Expanded space for the Arkansas Lions Eye Bank founded in 1985 by the Ophthalmology Department at UAMS
  • Additional administration space and a new library to support curriculum and research
  • Education space for the Ophthalmic Medical Training Program (OMT), one of only seven in the nation
  • Expanded space for clinical trials and unfinished expansion space for future research

This expansion to the building added 55,301 square feet to patient care, education and research, bringing the total of this building to 122,062 square feet.
