Susan Steelman, M.L.I.S., is an Associate Professor in the UAMS Library, Education and Reference Services Department. Susan is Head of Education and Reference Services and one of two expert searchers providing professional literature searches for research, clinical and professional purposes for all UAMS faculty and staff. Her educational responsibilities include teaching CME and CNE classes on PubMed, consumer health and public health resources. She holds a BA in English Literature and a minor in History from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. Susan earned her Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA in 1994.

Susan began her medical librarian career at the Delta Health Education Center Library in Helena, AR. In 1996, Susan began her tenure with the UAMS Library as Coordinator of Outreach Services. In May  2007 Susan became Coordinator of the new Research & Clinical Search Service (RCSS) and spent 4  years expanding the Library’s services to clinicians and researchers.

Susan is active professionally with the Medical Library Association and has served on many committees and held elected office with the regional group, the South Central Chapter of MLA.  She is currently serving as President of SCC/MLA for 2012-2013.
