Jan Hart, MLS, Ed.D., is a professor/librarian at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Library.  She holds a B.A. in History and Psychology from the University of Kansas, a Masters in Library Sciences from the University of Denver, and a Masters in Education in Instructional Resources from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  She earned a Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2003.  Unpublished dissertation: Web-based distance education and the academic department at metropolitan universities (2003).

Jan joined the UAMS Library faculty in 1980.  She has held various positions in the Library, including head of the Learning Resource Center (1988-2005), and has been Head of Education and Reference Services since 2002 and Library Associate Director since 2005. Prior to joining the UAMS Library, Jan was a librarian at University of Kansas Medical Center (1968-1971), Reed College (1971-1972), and Public School (P.S.) 191 in New York City (1977-1978).
