Faculty Development Through Collaboration

Presented at the Lbraries in Curriculum Special Interest Group Program,
Medical Library Association Annual Meeting, San Antonio, TX, May 16, 2005.

Efforts to integrate informatics and evidence-based medicine skills into the curriculum can be stymied or short-lived in the absence of shared understanding and shared goals. Librarians need a working knowledge of curriculum structure, course objectives, and clinical settings. Similarly, faculty need a working knowledge of available information resources and associated technologies before they can successfully model their use or integrate them into their teaching. This presentation will encourage discussion of opportunities for faculty development through curriculum committee participation and collaborative teaching. PPT slides
